Below are the descriptions for the clip.
Blaster (Broadcast) and Soundwave's last battle
Blaster (called Broadcast in Japan) and Soundwave have their final battle in
their familiar forms early in the Japanese Headmasters series. Surprisingly
they didn't use any of their sonic attacks, but they gave each other quite a
beating. ;)
Technical details:
The source is a videotape from the Japanese Headmasters laserdisk, so its video quality is pretty good. You can try watching it in full-screen mode if you want. The full-screen view does look great on my 17" monitor.
Description of the events in the video:
Soundwave sneaks up on Hot Rod (called Hot Rodimus in Japan) and ejects Condor (Laserbeak) and Buzzsaw to deal with him: "Shi-ne (Die)!". Blaster and his Cassettebots eventually catch up with them. While Hot Rod is preoccupied, Soundwave tries to shoot at him, but Blaster knocks Hot Rod down.
After asking Hot Rod if he's okay ("Daijobu?") and telling Hot Rod to hurry up and continue his search for the Matrix, which they think is in the Arctic somewhere, Blaster and Soundwave begin their final showdown. As they blast each other with their rifles, Galvatron is watching from headquarters (probably through one of Soundwave's cassette Transformers). The two communicators get close enough to punch each other's fist through their chest panels simultaneously, stunning them both onto the ground. At this point Hot Rod turns around and notices Blaster in trouble. Blaster gives Soundwave one mighty punch which knocks Soundwave's right arm off as he is thrown through the air, alarming Galvatron: "Soundwave!"
Undeterred, Soundwave rushes at Blaster, slamming him through the air into an icy cliff, and then leaping up to kick Blaster in his chest before landing flat on his back on the ground below. Blaster then comes down and slams his elbow into Soundwave's chest before he is punched away. Soundwave tries to stand but explodes violently, causing Galvatron to mutter his name and yell out in sorrow and frustration.
Blaster himself tells the returning Hot Rod to go on, saying that he is sorry he can't go along with him, before he turns greyish white and dies. After Hot Rod tells Steeljaw to inform the others, Laserbeak flies off with Soundwave's greyish-white head while Buzzsaw and Ratbat carry a few other parts.
This isn't the end for the two communicators, though. Go here for Soundblaster and here for Twincast, their newer forms.
